Woman arrested while attempting to deliver contraband to inmate at DeKalb County Jail – WSB-TV Channel 2

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A DeKalb County woman was arrested while attempting to bring contraband into the county jail.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Deondria Alexander of Avondale Estates was arrested Thursday.

Arrest warrants from the sheriff’s office show she drove to the jail in Decatur and parked in a handicapped parking lot.

The sheriff’s office then said she walked through the yard, which is an authorized area, and was approached by officers and arrested.

Nearby, officers found a bag of suspected contraband and a rope hanging from a cell window.

When officers searched the bag, the sheriff’s office said they found Newport cigarettes, a bag of tobacco, two cell phones, chargers, a lighter, Bugler tobacco and a bag of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office also impounded Alexander’s car and she was taken into custody without incident on a $5,000 bond.

Alexander was arrested on charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, parking in a handicapped space and crossing state/county lines with a weapon, intoxicants or drugs without consent.
