Dayton man arrested after high-speed chase and crash in Darke County

“Before the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated to approximately 90 miles per hour,” the release said.

The pursuit went north on State Route 121, west on U.S. 36, south on Crumrine Road, east on Byrket Road, north on Weaver Station Road and east on U.S. 36, the office said of the sheriff with.

Another deputy deployed tire deflation devices, which the Malibu driver struck. The car reached Route 121 before the driver lost control and crashed into a ditch.

The driver got out and fled, but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

The sheriff’s office identified him as 30-year-old Quentin V. Howard of Dayton. According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, he was booked into the Darke County Jail on suspicion of drug possession. Additional charges are pending.

A 32-year-old Dayton man, who was a passenger in the car, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Wayne Healthcare and transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.
