Atlanta Braves News: Pierce Johnson, Tyler Matzek update and more

The Atlanta Braves bullpen has had some bad luck on the injury front as of late. However, manager Brian Snitker provided a promising update on one of the club’s injured relievers.

Pierce Johnson was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 4 with elbow inflammation. On Friday, however, the 33-year-old was scheduled to do some work on the mound, as Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Tyler Matzek was also placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with his own case of elbow inflammation. Snitker did not provide an update on his injury other than that he was prevented from throwing.

Hopefully each of them will recover well and return to the pen in due time.
