GBI: Dog attack leads to discovery of body in Brooks | Local News

QUITMAN — A call about a dog attack Thursday led to the discovery of a body in Brooks County.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., Brooks County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to 2317 Webster Road in Quitman on a report that juveniles had been attacked by a dog, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Officers found several aggressive dogs and determined that the teens had already been taken to the hospital; They then found the body of 35-year-old Courtney Williams in the yard of the home.

The GBI was requested by the Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation. An autopsy will be performed by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
