🇳🇱 Netherlands: NPO, AVROTROS and EBU meet this morning about the Joost Klein incident

NOS confirmed this morning that a meeting between the Dutch broadcaster and the European Broadcasting Union will take place this morning.

Dutch broadcaster NOS has reported further details on the incident, which saw Joost Klein not rehearse on any shows since yesterday. NOS states that there was an incident with a TV employee on Thursday evening, after which a report was filed on Friday. The EBU released a statement yesterday afternoon that read:

“We are currently investigating an incident reported to us involving the Dutch artist. He will not rehearse until further notice. We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course.”

The police have informed NOS that Joost Klein was questioned last night, and the person who made the report was also questioned. The case is now with the local prosecutor’s office to determine what will happen. Processing could take several weeks.

A meeting is scheduled to take place this morning between AVROTROS, the head of NPO Frederike Leeflang and the European Broadcasting Union. The European Broadcasting Union has not released any further details.

As no decision has yet been made on whether Joost Klein will take part in tonight’s Grand Final, voting for the rest of the world has been delayed.

The jury final took place last night, with juries in all 37 participating countries voting on the finalists’ performances. The Dutch performance from the second semi-final was broadcast on the show instead of Joost appearing on stage.
