Wayne County woman charged with child endangerment following overdose incident

A Town of Galen woman was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after responding to a possible overdose incident Friday. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest after officers were called to a residence on Old Route 31.

Stacey L. Belile was taken into custody after reports that a 13-year-old was using marijuana in her presence at the home. Emergency responders responded to the scene and the teen was subsequently treated and transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for further care.

Belile was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges. The incident highlights the community’s ongoing concerns about child welfare and substance exposure in the home environment.
