Bhopal shocker: Instagram ‘boyfriend’ kidnaps 16-year-old girl on the pretext of a trip, takes minor to rented room and rapes her; Booked

Bhopal, May 11: A man has been booked by the Gunga police in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl. The accused, identified as Vikram Meena, reportedly befriended the girl through Instagram and abducted her on his bike on the pretext of going on a trip.

According to a report in TOIThe girl, a Class 10 student, was taken to a rented room in Acharpura area where the alleged rape took place. The girl’s family began searching for her when she went missing for more than two hours. Her brother found her on the way home and she told them the incident. A report was then filed with the police. Mumbai: Woman Alleges Rape By Instagram Friend; The case was registered at Worli police station.

The Gunga police have registered a rape case against Meena under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Acts and have initiated investigations.

This comes after a 24-year-old woman in Mumbai allegedly died by suicide because she was psychologically harassed by two men, one of whom she met through social media while the other was her boyfriend. The woman, a private teacher and BCom graduate, reportedly jumped from the terrace of her building in Jogeshwari East on May 3. An investigation has been launched into this matter.
