Formal sex crime charges have been filed against ex-model and serial offender Dean Kelly

In December, Dean Kelly was arrested on charges of attempted third-degree rape and sexual battery in connection with an incident in October.

NEW ORLEANS – The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office announced Friday that its special victims unit has formally filed charges against former model and actor Dean Kelly, who is accused of sexual battery and attempted simple rape.

Kelly, then 52, was arrested in December on charges of attempted third-degree rape and sexual assault in October.

The DA’s office said Kelly also faces charges of failing to comply with his registration requirements, including failing to register his vehicle and failing to provide notifications of his sex offender status on social networking sites.

The serial killer, who was previously imprisoned for committing sex crimes, pleaded guilty in 2013 to two counts of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old and took a plea deal in 2005 after being accused of raping two teenage girls.

Since his last arrest, Kelly remains out on bail.

The OPDA Special Victims Unit is urging people to report any contact with Kelly on dating and social networking apps.

“The public should be aware that Kelly is suspected of using social media and dating sites under various aliases to conceal his true identity. These alias accounts often contain actual photos of Kelly herself,” warns the DA’s office.

The DA’s office also says Kelly’s violent past and ongoing behavior pose a clear and present danger to members of this community.

In the ’90s, Kelly appeared in Aerosmith’s video for “Crazy” with Alicia Silverstone.
