1 dead in Florida crash involving Dothan man

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Calhoun County, Florida, Friday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) incident report, the driver of a van driven by a 47-year-old man from Bristol, Florida, was traveling eastbound on Florida Highway 20 for reasons unknown to investigators at the time Her vehicle crossed the road and entered oncoming traffic.

As the vehicle crossed the double yellow center line and headed west, the left front of the van struck the left front of a commercial box truck driven by a 26-year-old Dothan man. The impact sent the Bristol man’s van back onto the eastbound lane heading south, while the panel van was sent onto the northbound shoulder, still partially in the westbound lane.

FHP, along with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, Blountstown Fire Department and West Side Fire Department arrived on scene and performed work to clear the roadway of debris and debris caused by the collision with two commercial vehicles were created.

The Bristol man died as a result of his injuries in the crash, while the Dothan man suffered only minor injuries. According to FHP, both people were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

As a reminder, the Florida Highway Patrol does not release names of car accident victims.
