Police return to Drake’s house for the third time in a week

After a security guard was shot at Drake’s Toronto home earlier this week and an intruder was arrested the next day, police returned to the rapper’s home on Thursday afternoon (May 9) after an intruder got into an “altercation” with security guards .

This is the third incident at Drake’s home this week involving police. Early Tuesday morning, a security guard was shot while driving past and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A day later, an intruder was arrested for attempting to break into the home and was arrested by police under the Ontario Mental Health Act.

Unlike Wednesday’s intruder incident, yesterday’s intruder was not arrested under the Mental Health Act, which is the law to conceal a person’s identity. According to Toronto police spokesperson Shannon Eames, police were called to Drake’s home around 3:30 p.m. before police arrived and the intruder was later taken to hospital.

The events at Drake’s house come after a heated weekend of dissension between him and Kendrick Lamar. The two have been feuding since Lamar released a verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” in March, sparking a wave of dissident songs and videos. After the security guard fired early Tuesday morning, police said it was too early to say whether the incident was related to the dispute between the rappers.

It’s worth noting that Lamar featured an aerial photo of Drake’s house on the cover of “Not Like Us,” a dissident track he released last Saturday. Fans and critics are concerned that the back-and-forth could have real-life consequences, pointing to the fight between the Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur.
