30-year-old killed in semi-truck accident in Killeen, Texas

KILLEEN, Texas – Police say a 30-year-old woman is dead after an early morning crash in Killeen.

At approximately 5:50 a.m., Killeen police officers received a call about an accident in the 12300 block of State Highway 195. When they arrived, they discovered that a black Nissan sedan had collided with a semi-truck pulling a trailer.

An investigation into the events leading up to the accident revealed that the semi-truck was preparing to turn left onto State Highway 195 from the yield sign at the intersection between the northbound and southbound lanes when the Nissan struck the left rear of the trailer while driving in Heading north on the inside lane. According to police, the semi-truck did not move before turning.

The driver of the Nissan, Karelys Almeda Sola, 30, died from her injuries after being taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to Killeen PD.

According to police, next of kin have been notified.
