Probable pitchers and starting lineups for Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets, May 10

The Atlanta Braves just won an exciting series against the Boston Red Sox thanks to impressive performances from Chris Sale, Jarred Kelenic and Marcell Ozuna.

They now set their sights on the New York Mets as they attempt to gain ground in the division race. Atlanta saw the Mets in April and played three of four scheduled games. The Braves lost two of the three games they were able to play, with the fourth game postponed due to bad weather.

New York is 18-18 this season and sits third in the NL East while the Braves are second in the division with a 22-12 record and two games behind the first-place Phillies. Unfavorable weather conditions are expected in the region, so the first match could face potential delays.

Let’s take a look at the starting lineups and pitching for tonight’s game.

Jose Quintana (1-3, 5.20 ERA) faced the Braves when the two rivals faced each other early in the season. He allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts. The Braves ended up losing that game and are hoping for better results this time around. Quintanta’s most recent outing was short as the Rays scored him for eight runs on 10 hits in 2.2 innings.

Charlie Morton (2-0, 3.50 ERA) continues to be an impressive part of the Atlanta Braves rotation. The 40-year-old veteran has completed 36 innings in 2024, issuing 13 walks and striking out 33 batters. He pitched against the Mets earlier this season and allowed four runs in 5.2 innings. His curveball continues to be one of the best pitches in baseball and his last start ended after six innings against a tough Dodgers team. He allowed just two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
