One person was killed in a head-on crash on the Rural Southern MN Highway

NEW PRAGUE, MN (KROC-AM News) – Authorities in southern Minnesota responded to a fatal traffic accident Thursday afternoon.

LeSueur County Sheriff Brett Mason says it was a car and a pickup truck that collided on a highway in an area east of New Prague. The fatal incident occurred just before 3 p.m.

The sheriff’s press release states 35-year-old Kyle Wayne Peterson of Bethel was driving north on LeSueur County Road 3 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the southbound pickup truck head-on. The passenger in Peterson’s car suffered fatal injuries and later died at a New Prague hospital. He was identified as 72-year-old Ronald Allan Otterstrom of Shoreview.

30-year-old Adam Walcholz of New Richland drove the pickup. He and his passenger, 31 year old Whitney Wacholzwere transported to the hospital in New Prague with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff Mason says the fatal incident remains under investigation.
