The infamous Luka Doncic press conference incident was actually a prank by a teammate

The Dallas Mavericks stole Game 2 and evened their Western Conference semifinal series with the Oklahoma City Thunder at 1-1. Luka Dončić, who struggled with injuries all night, still managed to score 29 points along with 10 rebounds and seven assists.

After the game, he sat down to speak to the media, but before his press conference could begin, it was interrupted by… strange moans.

It seemed that someone was playing pornography somewhere backstage and it was loud. Luka was visibly shocked before recovering and making a joke to ease the tension in the room.

The only question was: who? Who played the pornography at the Paycom Center close enough to Luka’s press for everyone to hear? Many people assumed it was a media representative’s laptop Mike Golic Jr. even goes so far as to offer a possible motive– One of the Texas-based media representatives took advantage of Oklahoma’s laxer Internet regulations.

Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long to find out the truth. In the Friday edition of The Athletic NBA ShowTim Cato reported that it was a teammate who pranked Luka.

“I had to make it clear that this was a player defending the honor of the media corps,” Cato said. “The Dallas Media Corps. We don’t do anything like that down here. Up in New York or other cities, I don’t know how this works, but it wasn’t a reporter who accidentally opened his phone. That wasn’t it.” It was played over a telephone to prank Luka.

Cato also wondered if he was now in on the sex noises and tasked with finding out which player was behind the prank, but some questions are probably best left unanswered. Disclosure of the offender’s identity may result in a fine or disciplinary action. For now, this story has a happy ending.
