Arrest in Hartford murder case after lengthy investigation

Deaudrienne Keith was arrested without incident on Friday.

HARTFORD, Conn. – An arrest was made Friday in connection with a 2022 Hartford homicide. Hartford police said Deaudrienne Keith was charged with murder and taken into custody without incident.

On June 15, 2022, at approximately 4:29 p.m., Hartford Police Patrol Officers responded to Martin Street after a body was found. According to police, emergency services found the body of a deceased man behind the building.

The victim, 54-year-old Brian Knighton, lived at the home and was attacked, according to investigators with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Units responded and took over the investigation, police said, adding that Keith was determined to be a suspect after an 18-month investigation.

Police said that after probable cause was established, an arrest warrant was approved for Keith, who lived in the same apartment as Knighton.

On Friday, members of the Hartford Police Fugitive Task Force, Violent Crimes Unit, Auto Theft Unit and U.S. Marshal Service found Keith and took him into custody without incident, police said.

According to police, Keith is charged with murder and faces a $750,000 bond.
