Wadada Healthy Market & Juice Bar has a little bit of everything: food, body products and a cute little outdoor space that overlooks the comings and goings of the West End. But you’re here for one of the tastiest smoothies in Atlanta, the Maca Veli Smoothie, creamy, sweet and made with banana, cantaloupe and sea moss.

Maybe it’s the giant umbrellas on the outdoor terrace, the light-filled interior or the eye-catching bright yellow building. We just know that MoreLyfe Juice in Cascade Heights is the kind of place where you’re tempted to kick off your sandals and forget you have a job. Settle into a chair on the terrace of this juice bar and café and sip a delicious MoreJoy, an airy blend of mango, pineapple, sea moss and ginger.

We’d be willing to bet that most Atlantans had their first taste of wheatgrass juice at an Arden’s Garden counter. Or they bought one of their products at a local grocery store. The Atlanta juice chain has stores located throughout the metro, making it an easy-to-find premium option when you want cold-pressed juice. And their East Point location is our favorite thanks to a huge patio, where we like to sip cucumber lemonade. We also like the slightly sweet TLC made with turmeric and carrot, or the Green Energy Machine, which mixes cucumbers, celery, apple juice, spinach, kale and a touch of ginger.

Yes, you have to try the Dat Ish and Punany kale wraps at Tassili’s, a raw vegan West End institution, but you should definitely leave with a juice too. Try their sweet and tangy Liberation Lemonade with lime juice, lemon juice, agave and mango. Or for extra spice, try Brave Sorrel with hibiscus flower, lemon, agave and a powerful punch of ginger. Tassili’s always offers quality and tasty food and drinks, so be aware that you will encounter a queue at the counter.

Atlanta-born Kale Me Crazy has cemented its reputation as the go-to place for organic, cold-pressed juices that taste fresh and vibrant, and don’t resemble vegetable skins or, well, dirt. We like the semi-sweet ‘Kale Yeah’, a blend of spinach, kale, cucumber, lemon and apple, it’s a great choice if you need an energy boost. And for those who prefer something more traditional, there’s always sweet orange juice. We enjoy the Inman Park flagship store, where we can grab a juice before wandering around to people watch.

Located in the Krog Street Market, Ju-C Bar is a counter-service juice bar that also sells smoothies, wraps, and bowls, making it a great option if you’re hanging out in the food hall and want a light meal. Try the Beet Me Up, lightly sweetened with carrots, apples, ginger, lime, spinach and beets. If you’re craving a smoothie instead of a juice, the Peach Cobbler doesn’t exactly look like a peach pie in smoothie form, but it’s thick and rich, with peaches, raw honey, bananas, granola and whey protein.

The simple, eclectic spirit of old Atlanta lives on at Spreading The Health Juice Bar, a southwest Atlanta juice company that offers fresh-squeezed juices served in label-free plastic bottles. So if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a quick pick-me-up, lock this place down. We love the Charcoal Lemonade (no, it doesn’t taste like charcoal), or the Beetle Juice with beets, carrots and turmeric, or the Zinger Tart with carrots, pineapple and grapefruit. All juices have a slightly bitter aftertaste, but it’s not off-putting. It just makes you feel like you’re getting all the nutrition in one go.

Juiceheads ATL in Lindbergh is a great choice when you want to catch up with friends, because sharing messy gossip is less toxic when you’re swinging in hanging chairs and sipping spirulina smoothies. There’s also a dimly lit adjoining hookah lounge if (and when) the conversation spills over in a new direction. The plant-based protein in our silky chocolate, peanut butter and banana smoothie keeps us full. But if you need food to get you through a juicy conversation, order the mildly spicy chili or the hearty lentil burger, which has a nice kick from the pickles.
