An unmarked police vehicle, a Hyundai, was stolen while the detective was on a break in south Columbus

Columbus, Ohio – An unmarked Columbus Division of Police vehicle was stolen Wednesday evening while a detective was taking a break at a south side restaurant.

According to police, the Hyundai was reportedly locked at the time of the theft.

The car was recovered Thursday afternoon in the Hilltop neighborhood.

According to police, there were no weapons or bulletproof vests in the car at the time of the theft, but a gun belt, a laptop and other city-issued items were reported stolen.

There were no arrests.
