Police say a video shows a man in New York putting a belt around a woman’s neck before sexually assaulting her

New York police are searching for a man who placed a belt around a woman’s neck before sexually assaulting her in the Bronx last week.

A video released by police shows the man, wearing a white sheet over his face, following the 45-year-old woman and putting a belt around her neck from behind, causing her to fall to the ground and become unconscious.

The man then dragged her between two cars and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on foot, New York police said. The incident occurred on May 1 at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue around 3 a.m

The woman is recovering from the attack, NBC New York reported.

The NYPD shared two images of the man on X-Thursday and asked anyone with information about the crime to contact them.

The incident comes just over a month after several women reported incidents on social media in which they said they were beaten by men while walking through the streets of downtown Manhattan in broad daylight.

At least two men were arrested in connection with these incidents.
