1 dead after grapefruit truck crash in Fresno County | YourCentralValley.com

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person is dead after the vehicle they were driving collided with the trailer of a large truck blocking a lane of Highway 41 Thursday evening, according to the CHP.

The accident occurred at 9:45 p.m. on Highway 41 and South Avenue in Fresno County.


Officials report that a man driving a large truck and pulling a trailer loaded with grapefruit attempted to get onto Highway 41 from South Avenue, but in doing so the trailer blocked one of the highway’s northbound lanes.

According to the CHP, a Nissan traveling in the northbound lane crashed into the trailer.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and is believed to have cooperated with the investigation.

The identity of the driver who was killed has not been officially released.
