Cape Coral man arrested for yelling at co-worker with kitchen knife

A Cape Coral man was arrested after entering a store and yelling at employees while holding a knife. Officers responded to 728 SW Pine Island Road after reports of a disturbance. An employee called 911 and reported that a man had entered the store, yelling aggressively and then pulling out a knife. Upon arrival, officers said they found 59-year-old James King at the mall with a 7-inch kitchen knife. Employees said King entered the store looking for service in the store, but when they asked him to repeat himself, he became very agitated. King reportedly pulled out the knife and shouted profanities at them. When officers asked King why he had the knife, he stated that he was taking it to a friend’s house to “chop up a salad.” was frustrated and looked for an envelope to contact a supervisor about a complaint. He allegedly saw an envelope on the counter and reached for his knife to inspect it. However, when asked why he needed a knife to open an already opened envelope, King was unable to provide an answer. King was reportedly arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
