Car cuts power line and tears siding off home in Chattanooga

Last night, power lines were ripped from a home in the 1700 block of South Willow Street near Highland Park, knocking the homeowner’s wall off the house. Nobody was injured.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department and Chattanooga Police Department, the car drove past the residence and pulled live power lines, causing a loud bang throughout the area.

EPB has since worked on the utility pole and disconnected power to the stray cable.

As of Friday morning, approximately 6,000 EPB customers remained without power due to severe storms on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

EPB said emergency crews from as far away as Indiana and Florida are arriving in Chattanooga on Friday to help restore power to everyone.
