Midland University athletics official arrested for sexual assault

FREMONT, Neb. (KOLN) – The assistant athletic director at Midland University in Fremont who is accused of sexual assault was arrested Wednesday.

Steven Heimann, 50, is charged with two felony counts: first-degree sexual assault and intentionally filming a person without consent.

He was released from Dodge County Jail after posting $10,000 bail and is due back in court on June 25.

Dodge County Prosecutor Pamela Hopkins issued a warrant for his arrest last week.

Midland University-Fremont assistant athletic director Steven Heimann is charged with first-degree sexual assault.

According to his affidavit, the woman had visited Heimann during his move to Fremont in October. She told police that Heimann gave her an excessive amount of sleeping pills one night.

Hopkins claims Heimann assaulted the woman and recorded a video of the acts on his cell phone.

A spokesman for Midland University said Heimann has been placed on administrative leave as a result of the charges.
