2 arrested after shots were fired during a drug deal in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida — Two men are charged in connection with a drug deal that led to a shooting in northwest Miami-Dade last month, authorities said.

Eduardo Lloret, 18, of Hialeah, was the latest arrested Thursday. He is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, shooting or throwing a deadly missile and armed criminal assault.

His co-defendant, Anthony Ryan Martinez, also 18, was arrested April 25 on the same charges.

According to Lloret’s arrest report, the robbery and shooting occurred April 23 in the 2300 block of Northwest 68th Street.

Miami-Dade police said the two victims, identified as a brother and sister, traveled to the area for a drug transaction and a dispute ensued over the drugs.

Police said Martinez pulled out a gun and fired at the victims, shooting the brother several times in the chest and once in the left arm.

According to the report, the victim’s vehicle was also struck by three bullets, causing more than $1,000 in damage.

Police said the sister identified Lloret from a photo.

He was taken into custody Thursday and admitted to being at Martinez’s home that day but denied being involved in the incident, the report said.

As of Friday afternoon, Lloret remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and Martinez remained at the Metrowest Detention Center. Their bonds had yet to be determined.
