City of Sparks is conducting a multi-accident, multi-injury drill next week

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – The City of Sparks will be holding a multi-injury accident drill next week.

The city is hosting the exercise as part of a partnership between itself, Northern Nevada Public Health, law enforcement and members of the Inter-Hospital Coordinating Council.

It runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Nugget Event Center and represents a comprehensive test of the capabilities of local authorities. The test will also focus on the self-transport component and emergency room congestion.

As part of the exercise, volunteers will portray community members involved in the incident.

“The exercise is designed to simulate a real emergency crisis,” said Scott Means, emergency manager for the City of Sparks. “We want to make sure the community knows this is a drill and not a real emergency because the scenarios look authentic.”
