Sheldon woman arrested for OWI | News

SHELDON – A 42-year-old Sheldon woman was arrested Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. on a charge of first-offense driving under the influence.

According to Sheldon police, Tamara Sue Van Der Brink’s arrest stemmed from a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country van being parked on Third Avenue nearby on Monday, April 15, at approximately 7:55 p.m was stopped on 11th Street in Sheldon for expired registration.

Van Der Brink had bloodshot/watery eyes, shaking, and impaired and failed field sobriety tests.

A drug recognition expert determined that Van Der Brink was impaired by a stimulant drug.

A urine sample was sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny. Results were returned May 8 and tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the incident report.
