A Florida woman who died in Wednesday’s crash on U.S. Route 24 was visiting her family

WASHINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) – The Tazewell County coroner has identified the woman killed Wednesday morning when she was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Route 24.

The 20-year-old Hailey Parks resident of Jacksonville, Florida, was pronounced dead at 7:32 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, said Coroner Charles R. Hanley. She was in the area visiting relatives in the area.


An autopsy was conducted Wednesday afternoon and preliminary autopsy results indicate the death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries sustained by a pedestrian when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

The woman was struck by a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck while she was westbound on Route 24 near the intersection of Grosenbach Road. According to Illinois State Police, who are still investigating the collision along with Hanley’s office, the accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m.
