Jury convicts Florida man who admitted to child sexual abuse during a job interview with a police officer

APOPKA, Fla — A 26-year-old man was convicted of sexually abusing a child this week after police said he admitted it during a job interview.

Stephen Bodley was sentenced Wednesday in Orange County District Court.

Apopka Police say Bodley applied to be a police officer in June 2021 and was interviewed. He was under 18 years old at the time.

Apopka police initiated a criminal investigation, located the victim and met with the victim and the victim’s mother.

Prosecutors say Bodley testified during the trial and denied sexually abusing the victim, although he admitted it to police three times.

Bodley was convicted by the jury after a three-day trial. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24.
