Eurovision officials investigate ‘incident’ involving Dutch entry

Joost Klein, who represents the Netherlands at the European Song Contest final on Saturday, did not attend Friday afternoon’s rehearsal due to an “incident.”

The European Broadcasting Union EBU, the organized The festival said it was investigating a reported “incident” involving the Dutch attendee, but gave no details.

AVROTROS, the Dutch public broadcaster dealing with the end of the festival in the Netherlands, said it would not comment and was “awaiting the results” of the investigation.

Klein, who qualified for the final in Thursday’s semifinals, took part in the flag parade before the main rehearsal.

The broadcaster NOS points out that there was an unpleasant moment after the semi-finals Press conference at which the Israeli participant was asked whether she believed her presence could pose a danger to other participants and the audience.

A press officer said she didn’t need to answer the question, to which Klein, who had his head buried in the Dutch flag at the time, replied: “Why not?” Eden Golan then answered the question.

However, there is currently no connection between this incident and Klein’s failure to appear at the rehearsal.

The Telegraaf said it was “remarkable” that Klein stopped following Eurovision on Instagram on Friday afternoon and removed all of his posts from Thursday evening.
