Monroe man charged with raping juvenile

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – A 52-year-old Monroe resident was arrested May 9 after a teenage victim told police he raped her.

The victim told police she went to the home of Thomas Smith, a family friend, after an argument with her mother. According to arrest records, the victim told police she complained that it was hot inside when Smith told her to lie down in his room.

The victim said Smith raped her after she was in his bed.

Smith was arrested on one count of third-degree rape.
