HPD is searching for suspect in shooting death of woman and deputy near Hermann Park

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Police in Houston are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting at a gas station near Hermann Park overnight Tuesday morning that left a woman dead and a Harris County deputy constable injured.

It happened just after midnight Tuesday morning at the corner of South MacGregor Way and Almeda Road.

Crew members of a Houston Fire Department ambulance were pumping gas when they saw a man shoot a woman who may have been his girlfriend. She was taken to hospital where she later died.

A Harris County Precinct 7 deputy arrived at the scene and began pursuing the suspect in his black Camero. As the officer attempted to stop a crime, the suspect opened fire.

As the officer retreated for cover, the suspect stole the officer’s patrol car and drove away from the scene. He later returned to the scene and drove away in his original car.

Investigators later found another patrol vehicle with multiple bullet holes.

The deputy from Precinct 7 was taken to the hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
