NYPD releases images of the face of the suspect who choked and raped a woman with a belt in an attack captured on video in the Bronx

On Friday, police released images showing the face of the masked gunman who was captured on video throwing a belt around a woman’s neck from behind, then dragging her between two cars and raping her in a horrific attack in the Bronx .

After searching the area for additional surveillance footage, officers recovered images of the man wanted in the May 1 attack. They show him without the white towel that covered his face during the nighttime attack. The stills also show that he was wearing a GAP sweatshirt at the time.

The suspect was recorded sneaking up behind the 45-year-old victim as he walked on a sidewalk near the corner of E. 152nd St. and Third Ave. around 3 a.m. in the South Bronx

In a video seen by the Daily News, the man is seen using his belt as a lasso, throwing it around the victim’s neck and knocking him to the ground.

He then drags the woman along the sidewalk as she angrily struggles to remove the belt, Daily News video shows.

The man dragged her between two parked cars, where she lost consciousness, police said.

As the woman lies on her stomach on the street, the suspect leans over her several times while looking around, as the video shows. He then sexually abused her, the police said.

The man fled after the attack and is still wanted by police.

The woman took herself to Lincoln Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The NYPD Special Victims Unit is investigating the disturbing incident.

police on Friday released surveillance images of the dark strangler in the hope that someone will recognize him. He is described as black, around 1.70 meters tall and with a thin build.

At the time of the attack he was wearing the white towel over his head, the GAP sweatshirt, white sweatpants and black, red and white sneakers.
