Man found dead on Parkland Street, gun and shell casings nearby – KIRO 7 News Seattle

PARKLAND, Wash. – Pierce County officers were en route to a report of gunshots and a man dead in Parkland when they found a dead victim in the street.

On Wednesday at 6:39 p.m., officers were called to 119th Street South and Pacific Avenue. When they arrived, they found a dead man in the street, as well as a gun, live ammunition and shell casings nearby.

Witnesses said the suspect or suspects drove away north on Pacific Avenue.

The road was closed to preserve evidence. As a crowd began to form, a deputy was attacked by a family member of the victim who attempted to enter the scene, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The man who attacked the deputy was arrested and later booked into the Pierce County Jail on a third-degree assault charge.

The deputy, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Detectives and forensic experts collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. No arrests were made.
