AMBER ALERT: Suspect in custody, 12-year-old girl still missing

The 12-year-old girl has been identified as Chloie Brewer-Clark. Clark was last seen in Houston around 3 a.m. Monday.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – A person who is the subject of an Amber Alert in Texas is in custody in Baton Rouge.

A spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office told our partners at WBRZ that 26-year-old Ariel Anderson was in custody. Anderson was designated a “person of interest,” but no warrant was issued for his arrest.

Deputies said the missing girl was not with Anderson.

The 12-year-old girl has been identified as Chloie Brewer-Clark. Clark was last seen in Houston around 3 a.m. Monday.

WBRZ reported that Brewer-Clark’s debit or credit card was last located at a motel in Baton Rouge.

Chloie has black hair and brown eyes. She has one ear pierced and is missing a nail on her thumb. Chloie was last seen wearing green and yellow Spongebob shorts and a matching sports bra.

They were presumably in a black 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Louisiana license plate 310GOE.

Anyone with information on Brewer-Clark’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or contact HPD’s Missing Persons Unit.

The Amber Alert system includes clearly defined activation criteria.

Law enforcement authorities confirm the abduction of a child.

The police believe that the circumstances of the kidnapping indicate that the child is at risk of serious bodily harm or death.

There must be enough descriptive information about the child – the abductor – and/or the suspect’s vehicle – to believe that an immediate radio alert will be helpful in recovering the child.

This concerns the kidnapping of a child under the age of 18.

The AMBER Alert system was created in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters worked with local police to develop an early warning system to locate abducted children, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

AMBER stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy for 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and murdered in Arlington, Texas.

  • Law enforcement confirms the abduction of a child aged 17 or under.
  • Law enforcement authorities believe that the circumstances of the abduction indicate that the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death.
  • There must be enough descriptive information about the child, the abductor, and/or the suspect’s vehicle to reasonably believe that an immediate radio alert will assist in recovering the child.
