United Nations vehicle attacked in KP’s Dera Ismail Khan

A United Nations vehicle came under fire in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday as it evaded a vigil set up by unidentified armed men in the area.

The incident occurred within the premises of Hatala police station in DI Khan, police sources and locals said Aaj NewsThe UN vehicle was on its way to collect water samples when it was attacked.

The unidentified men stopped and searched passenger vehicles in the area. When the UN staff in the vehicle noticed the suspicious people, they ordered the driver to drive off, whereupon the gunmen opened fire from behind. One bullet hit the vehicle’s tire.

The UN vehicle, which had a flat tire, then drove into the fueling area where police rescued the personnel. Sources added that all officers inside the bulletproof vehicle were unharmed, although the vehicle sustained minor damage from the shelling.

The police have launched a manhunt in the area to arrest the perpetrators.
