Buffalo Bills player hospitalized with heat-related illness after Tuesday practice

The scorching days of summer are here and the Buffalo Bills players are feeling the heat. Tuesday’s practice was marred by a scary situation involving Bills offensive lineman Alec Anderson.

Anderson, a 24-year-old in his third year, is a 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive guard who competes for snaps with a host of other linemen. But on Tuesday, he was suffering from a heat-related illness after practice today.

The former undrafted UCLA lineman is currently recovering at a local hospital. According to the Bills medical staff, Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott both spoke with Anderson on the phone after he was hospitalized. He is reportedly in good spirits and focused on his recovery.

The incident was brought to the attention of Buffalo’s medical team after the player struggled to get up after a post-practice stretching session. Several Bills players gathered around the ambulance as Anderson was loaded into the vehicle.

As teammate and starting left tackle Dion Dawkins put it, Anderson is a “tough guy, no matter what, Alec fights and he’ll get through it.”

Anderson hasn’t played an NFL game yet, but he seems to have had a good performance so far. Hopefully he can rejoin his teammates when the time is right.
