Black bear spotted in several areas around Amherst

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A black bear was spotted in the area of ​​Sherbrooke Avenue in Amherst Tuesday morning, according to Amherst police.

WIVB News 4 received the first reports of the bear just after 10:50 a.m. The bear was also reportedly spotted in the Hopkins Road area.

Police have warned that bears are generally docile but can become aggressive if cornered. If you see a bear, police advise you to give it an escape route.
