Temperatures around 35 degrees are expected in Portland on Thursday and Friday.

PORTLAND, Oregon — High temperatures will return to the Portland area on Thursday and Friday, with the forecast predicting highs of 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35.4 degrees Celsius) for both days.

KGW is issuing a weather advisory for August 1 and 2, as temperatures will be uncomfortably hot around 95 degrees, and nights will also be very warm, according to KGW meteorologist Matt Zaffino.

Thunderstorms could develop east of the Cascades on Saturday and cooler ocean air will return to Western Oregon, so highs on Sunday should fall to around 90 degrees, according to KGW meteorologist Rod Hill. Next week will start with sunny weather and highs in the 90s.

When

In Portland, temperatures will peak at around 96 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

Effects

The weather impact of high temperatures just above 35 degrees Celsius increases the risk of heat stroke, fatigue and dehydration. For people without adequate cooling, these days will be challenging, as well as for people who work or live outdoors.

Need

If you are outdoors or must work outside, be sure to pack extra water and stay hydrated. Stay up to date with daily forecasts as KGW meteorologists track risk factors.
