One person killed by rocket debris in northern Israel

A person aged around 30 was killed by rocket fragments in a rocket attack in northern Israel on Tuesday, the Israeli rescue service Magen David Adom (MDA) said.

MDA added that the person was initially seriously injured and was given medical attention by MDA paramedics. However, resuscitation attempts failed and paramedics declared him dead.

MDA paramedic Yuval Levy and emergency medical technicians Noam Wolf and Nadav reported what they saw when they arrived at the scene.

“Immediately after the red alert, we received a report of an injured person and headed to the scene of the accident. It was a difficult accident scene. When we arrived on site, we found a 30-year-old man with shrapnel injuries to his upper body. He was unconscious and we immediately started medical treatment and resuscitation, after which we had to declare him dead.”

Reshef Nuriel, paramedic from United Hatzalah, described his missions on site.

“I, along with a rescue team, performed CPR on a man of about 30 years old who, according to witnesses, had been hit by a rocket fragment,” said Nuriel. “Unfortunately, after lengthy resuscitation attempts, he was declared dead.”

Israeli media had previously reported on Tuesday that the direct hit had occurred in Kibbutz HaGosherim.

About 10 missiles penetrate Israeli territory

At around 2:53 p.m., several rocket sirens sounded in northern Israel.

The Israeli military later said that about ten missiles had reached Israel from Lebanon and that most of them had been intercepted.

The military added that Israeli artillery forces fired at the source from which the rocket launches were detected.

The military also said that Israeli Air Force jets had attacked Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure in the Jibchit region of southern Lebanon earlier Tuesday.

At around 3:51 p.m., several drone intrusion alarms sounded in the Galilee Panhandle area.

Israeli media later reported that several fires had broken out in the region as a result of the missiles hitting northern Israel.

This is an evolving story.
