Hampton police are looking for a suspect in connection with the overnight mutilation on Armistead Avenue.

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton police are investigating a shooting on Armistead Avenue that left a man with non-life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning.

According to officials, officers heard multiple gunshots near Armistead Avenue and Union Street around 12:29 a.m. on July 30. During the investigation, officers received a call from Public Safety Communications with reports of gunshots in the 300 block of Lincoln Street.


When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the victim was shot after the suspect approached him and an exchange of words ensued.

The incident remains under investigation and police are still searching for the suspect.
