Shock from Hyderabad! Woman allegedly raped in moving bus, 1 arrested

In another unrelated incident, a young woman who had thrown a party to celebrate the arrival of a job in the software sector was allegedly raped by her friends, Rachakonda police said.

The woman had invited her childhood friend Gowtham Reddy and two other friends to the party. They drank alcohol in a bar and later went to a hotel room where Gowtham Reddy and one of the other friends allegedly raped her.

A case has been registered under relevant sections and the accused have been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway and the accused have been remanded in judicial custody.

People took to the streets on Sunday to demand justice for two women who were brutally murdered in separate incidents in Navi Mumbai earlier this month. A protest was held outside Uran police station demanding the arrest of those responsible for the murder of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found near Uran railway station. Another protest condemned the gang rape and murder of a 30-year-old housewife from Thane district.

The protest, led by Ganesh Naik (BJP), a MP from Airoli, and other local politicians, saw participants wearing black armbands and holding placards demanding justice for the victims. According to PTI reports, police have arrested three temple caretakers in connection with the rape and murder of the 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a valley on July 9.

“People are demanding death penalty for the three accused. I have written to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers requesting a fast-track trial and the appointment of Ujjwal Nikam as Special Public Prosecutor,” Naik said.
