Weaker winds and drier conditions move across the state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – High pressure north of the islands will weaken and move west over the next few days. Winds will ease to moderate speeds today and continue to ease through the second half of the week. Stable conditions will prevail with precipitation remaining light. The dry and stable mid-level air mass will remain over the islands for the rest of the week, showers will be limited to the windward and mauka areas as bands of low moisture move through while the windward areas will remain mostly dry.

The weak background energy of the south-southwest swell (200 degrees) will continue along south-facing coasts during the first half of this week. A moderate southerly swell is expected on Thursday, peaking on Friday and slowly easing over the weekend. Surf along east-facing coasts will remain rough and choppy and will slowly ease over the next few days as the trade winds die down.
