Fatal pedestrian accident on Breathitt Parkway in Hopkins County

The name of a person killed in a one-vehicle collision on Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway Monday afternoon has not yet been released by authorities.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 3:40 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call that a man had been struck by a passing vehicle. The crash occurred near the 29-mile marker north of the Christian-Hopkins County line in the northbound lanes.

Emergency crews remained on scene for several hours to investigate the accident. The northbound lanes of the parkway were closed until after 7:30 p.m. Monday night. During the closure, traffic was detoured through the Crofton area.
