4 people in hospital after hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles on Highway 4 in Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, CA (July 30, 2024) – Four people were seriously injured in a two-car hit-and-run crash on Highway 4 near Lone Tree Way.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident on Sunday around 1:00 p.m. For an unknown reason, the driver of a dark pickup truck with a trailer and tow rope made an unsafe lane change on Highway 4. The driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup then lost control and drove off the grassy median barrier before the car rolled over several times.

Meanwhile, the dark pickup truck left the scene of the accident heading west on Highway 4.

Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards and found the Toyota Tacoma driver unharmed, but his four passengers seriously injured. All four patients were taken to a nearby hospital, one of them by helicopter.

Authorities have not yet determined if drunk driving played a role in causing the accident. If anyone can help traffic investigators identify the driver involved in this accident, please call the CHP.

Be careful of your passengers when driving. Clear the road before changing lanes. Extreme caution is required when driving to avoid a collision.
