Taylor Swift posted on her Instagram stories on Tuesday, July 30, about the tragic incident that occurred the day before at the above location.

According to People, Merseyside Police Commissioner Serena Kennedy announced that two children died in the tragedy. Nine other children were injured and six are in a critical condition.

In her Instagram story, Swift wrote in white lettering on a black background: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport continues to wash over me and I am in complete shock… The loss of life and innocence and the horrific trauma inflicted on all who were there, the families and the first responders.”

The global pop sensation continued: “These were just little kids at a dance class,” adding: “I am at a complete loss as to how I will ever be able to express my condolences to these families.”

According to the publication’s article, authorities confirmed that a 17-year-old from Cardiff was arrested in connection with the stabbing. Kennedy stated during the press conference that he was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder.

More about the knife attack

According to the outlet, Merseyside Police said officers “arrested a man and seized a knife” after arriving at a property on Hart Street in the city at around 11.50am local time.

The statement added that the public was asked not to speculate while investigations into the reasons for this horrific incident were ongoing.

The authorities’ statement confirmed that this tragic incident is not considered terrorist-related and that no one else is being sought in connection with this incident.

According to the publication, Kennedy said they were convinced that the injured adults had made a “valiant” attempt to save the children who were attacked.
