Leesburg man gets 10 years to life in prison in child rape case

A Leesburg man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to rape of a child.

As previously reported, 21-year-old Jonah Hunt was charged with four counts of first-degree rape on Tuesday, January 2nd. The charges were initially kept secret.

According to court records, Hunt pleaded guilty on May 8 to the first count, which alleged that Hunt “engaged in sexual conduct” with a child under the age of 13 over the course of approximately four months in 2021. The remaining three charges were dismissed.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Hunt to 10 years to life in prison, with Hunt given credit for 103 days served. Hunt is also classified as a Level III sex offender and must register every 90 days for life.

Hunt was the second Leesburg defendant in as many days to plead guilty to rape of a child and was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison in unrelated cases. For more information, visit: https://highlandcountypress.com/news/leesburg-man-sentenced-10-years-li….
