Glocester man found sleeping under porch – warrant issued for arrest in investigation into stolen dirt bike

KILLINGLY, Connecticut — While investigating a report of a stolen dirt bike, police in Killingly, Connecticut, arrested two men on warrants, including a Chepachet man who was found sleeping under the porch of the home where the bike was located.

Andrew Lowell, 33, of Chepachet was arrested during the incident on Wednesday, July 24, on six outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

According to police, the owner of the stolen motorcycle had a tracking device on the vehicle that showed it was located near Knox Avenue in Danielson. Officers patrolling the area saw a dirt bike parked in plain sight in the driveway of a home and made contact with the owner, identified as John Lane, 52, of Killingly. It was one of two stolen dirt bikes found on Lane’s property.

During the investigation, officers learned that Lane also had an arrest warrant out for Foster. He was also charged with possession of stolen property.

An officer on scene reportedly spotted another man sitting in a chair under the porch of the Knox Avenue home. The officer recognized Lowell from several previous encounters and approached him to find him sleeping. Lowell was awakened and arrested without incident.

Lowell was taken to Troop D and charged with six counts of second-degree failure to appear in court. He was given a total of $90,000 bail – $15,000 for each warrant – and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court.
