Suspected drunk driver killed after two-vehicle crash involving family of five in Humble

HUMBLE, Texas – A suspected drunk driver is dead and several others were seriously injured after an accident in Humble on the night of Tuesday into Wednesday.

It happened around 1 a.m. at the corner of Atascocita and Wilson Road in northeast Harris County when officers from the Humble PD and Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to a two-vehicle crash. One of the vehicles contained a family of five, while the other was occupied only by the driver.

Preliminary information from the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Unit states that the unidentified driver disregarded a red light and struck the Uber driver and the family who was giving him a ride. Emergency responders took the Uber driver and family to a hospital, while the driver who disregarded the red light died at the scene.

Investigators also believe that the driver was impaired. However, this will only be confirmed by a forensic report.

The roads were closed for several hours but were scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m.
