Rwandan arrested in Rukiga for raping his own 6-year-old daughter

47-year-old Rwandan Fosta Twizemana was arrested on suspicion of raping his six-year-old biological daughter.

Twizemana, a herdsman in Kayebe village, Kigara parish, Kamwezi sub-county, Rukiga district, is accused of raping the minor on July 26, 2024.

It is alleged that Twizemana called his two children, aged two and six, to leave their mother, who was digging, and come to him where he was grazing cattle.

After the crime, he sent the minors back to their mother. However, when they returned from the garden, her mother noticed that the victim was having difficulty walking.

When questioned, the victim stated that she had been raped by her father. The mother immediately rushed to Kamwezi Police Station to report the incident after noticing blood oozing from the victim’s private parts. Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident and stated that Twizemana had gone into hiding but was arrested on Sunday and taken to Rukiga Police Station.

Maate described the act as barbaric and uncultured and expressed shock that a parent who was supposed to protect a child could commit such an act. Maate added that the suspect would be brought to court and charged after the investigation was completed.
