White Dudes for Harris’ X account suspended after raising $4 million for Kamala Harris

The X-account of the campaign group White Dudes for Harris was suspended on Monday, apparently just minutes after its first fundraiser raised $4 million for Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential bid.

When asked why the organization, which had over 13,000 X-followers, was blocked on his personal X-account, organizer Ross Morales Rocketto simply replied: “I scared Elon Musk.”

A backup account was created for the organization on Monday afternoon. When asked about it, they responded, “@dudes4harris was Ross’ original account that was suspended for some reason.” At the time of publication, this backup account had nearly 5,000 users.

The reasons for the suspension of the White Dudes for Harris account on X are still unknown, but on Monday many online condemned the election interference by the social media platform, especially given that owner Elon Musk is a vocal supporter of Donald Trump for re-election. The tech billionaire supported the former president after his assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month.

“The ‘champion of absolute free speech’ has now suspended White Dudes for Harris. Presumably because they raised $4 million in a few hours. The fascists are very scared. Good,” wrote one verified supporter.

Representatives for White Dudes for Harris did not respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on the news. Representatives for X could not be reached for comment.

The first White Dudes for Harris event kicked off Monday night with a digital fundraiser featuring the Dude himself, Jeff Bridges, and many other prominent white men as speakers, including Mark Hamill, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bradley Whitford, Sean Astin, and Josh Groban.

In total, the event raised $4 million for Harris’ presidential campaign against Republican candidate Trump.

“I accepted the invitation and was brought to the party not because I’m white, which I certainly am, but because I’m a guy, you know, I qualify, man. I’m white, I’m a guy and I’m for Harris,” Bridges told the tens of thousands of attendees.

In a social media clip of the speech posted by The Tennessee Holler, the Oscar winner gushed, “I’m excited, man. I think the fact that Joe passed the baton so beautifully makes me imagine her as president. I’m so excited. A president, man. How exciting! You know, and her commitment to women’s rights – for that, and her stance on the environment and taking care of our children, you know, all of her leadership on that is wonderful. And something I can support.”
