Suspect arrested in sexual assault case, police search for more victims

Salem police are searching for more victims of sexual assault after arresting a man accused of raping and attempting to rape a woman at a local massage parlor.

Felix Flores Jr., 39, of Salem, was arraigned Monday in Marion County District Court on charges of first-degree sodomy, first-degree rape, four counts of first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree rape and fourth-degree assault.

Police arrested Flores on Friday after someone reported a man attempting to sexually assault an employee at the Happy Holiday Spa massage parlor at 1828 Lancaster Drive NE, police said in a news release Monday.

According to police, the victim screamed and struggled with the suspect, which attracted the attention of others who intervened. The suspect then fled the massage parlor on foot. Flores was arrested shortly afterward near the business.

According to police, Flores is also suspected of committing another sexual assault on July 22.

A man entered the Sasa Massage Spa at 820 Commercial Street SE and sexually assaulted an employee before leaving the business, police said.

According to charging documents, Flores is accused of forcing one of the victims to perform oral sex and the other to perform sexual intercourse.

Flores has been in the Marion County Jail since Monday.

Police said they are looking for additional victims. Flores is driving a late-model green Chevrolet Astro van with dark windows, a luggage rack and a sunroof in the back. The van has Oregon license plate 267 MMS.

Salem police declined to comment Monday on why investigators suspect additional victims and referred questions about the case to the Marion County district attorney.

It was not clear from court records why Flores is accused of kidnapping, and Marion County Assistant District Attorney Brendan Murphy declined to elaborate on the reason for the charges, saying the office does not release information about pending criminal cases outside of the court process.

Anyone with additional information about Flores is asked to contact Detective Sabrina Hunter of the Salem Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at 503-540-2443.

Salem Police released this photo of Felix Flores and his vehicle.
